The Memorial
Situated in the immediate vicinity of the Historial, the Memorial of Vendée invites invites the visitor to experience a kind of pilgrimage to this place that bears witness to a page in our history that is both tragic and luminous.
Inaugurated in 1993 by Alexander Soljenitsine, it commemorates the massacre of 564 villagers of Les Lucs and neighbouring hamlets, in February 1794.
The Memorial is a place of meditation where all is subtly suggested. At the exit of the Memorial, the path of memory continues to the chapel of Petit Luc, where the memorial tables bearing the names of the victims of the massacre are kept.
